Hawzah News Agency- The poll, conducted jointly by Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos, found that more than 60% of Americans view the operation as misguided. By contrast, just over a third voiced support for the policy pursued by President Donald Trump in the Middle East.
A plurality of those questioned said Trump’s actions on Iran diverge from his 2024 campaign stance, while only a minority believed they were consistent.
This growing backlash is also reflected in declining domestic support for Trump himself, with recent polling showing his approval rating falling into the mid-30% range, a sharp drop from earlier levels. The war, widely viewed as unpopular, alongside its economic fallout, particularly rising energy costs, has contributed to eroding public confidence in the administration.
These findings come in the context of a rapid deterioration earlier this year, when US and Israeli forces launched coordinated attacks on February 28.
Beyond the immediate military dimension, the confrontation has had significant global repercussions. Tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments, have disrupted maritime traffic, contributing to rising energy prices and increased strain on international markets.
The survey was conducted between April 24 and 28 among 2,560 adults across the United States, with a margin of error of approximately two percentage points, reflecting a notable shift in domestic sentiment against the war.
